![]() ![]() ![]() The opening scene which the director NEVER returns to makes absolutely NO SENSE in the context of this movie. That said, the film is not without its faults. The performances of the young actors are well done I especially enjoyed the performance of Amy Hargreaves (the attractive mother) who plays the mom as someone who is unaware of the exact situation her son has gotten himself into, but she is NOT your stereotypical naive and clueless parent that is so often portrayed in such films. Overall I enjoyed this film and I do recommend it. ![]() But buyer most definitely beware with this one. Then Super Dark Times might have been it. ![]() By all means, check out this material on the web if you're interested in reading one of the better Star Wars comics available. I suppose anyone who bothers to pay three bucks for something they can easily snag for free might not care so much about value, but it still seems Dark Horse could have done better than this. This would make for fine bonus material in the trade, but as filler? Pfft. A few more pages of concept art are included, along with a full reprinting of Wheatley's pencil art. The story itself occupies less than half the pages. But as top-notch as the contents are, the issue doesn't offer nearly enough content to justify a full $2.99 price tag. The concept art in this issue alone is testament to his knack for detail. Most tend to excel only in one area or another. Wheatley is easily one of the better Star Wars artists at the moment, packing in plenty of detail when it comes to characters, ships, and architecture. And credit goes to Douglas Wheatley as well. Harrison manages to capture the seedier side of the galaxy in a way the new movies almost never did. This issue makes for a fun introduction to the arc, with some quality characterization of Jennir and an amusing sidekick in the form of the droid H2. And it isn't long before an opportunity presents itself. Luckily, writer Mick Harrison doesn't portray Jennir as a man wallowing in self pity, but merely a soldier in need of a new fight. With the new Empire exterminating the remaining Jedi, Jennir can do little but hole up in a bar and hope for better days. This once great Jedi warrior has severed his tie to the Order and simultaneously alienated himself from his few friends. Blue Harvest #0 offers readers the first post-Vector look at Dass Jennir. ![]()
